LOBO
our history
Coming soon-
the story of how Lobo Outfitters
got its name back in 1970.
Mike Ray- his determination and work ethic have been vital to the success of Lobo Outfitters. He has an innate sense of the outdoors and a keen sense of all animals: wild and domestic. Mike is a horseman, a hounds man, a successful trapper and will always go the extra mile in search of game. Mike and his wife, Gwen, currently are in charge of operations for Lobo Outfitters. Gwen does the booking and the cooking, so don't hassle the cook.
Outside of the business Mike began a rodeo career while in high school that continued on into the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Mike has won money and buckles in every rodeo event including steer wrestling, at 5’6” and 140 pounds.
" In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when conserved by the sportsman. The excellent people who protest against all hunting, and consider sportsmen as enemies of wildlife, are wholly ignorant of the fact that in reality the genuine sportsman is by all odds the most important factor in keeping wild creatures from total extermination."
-Teddy Roosevelt
Dick Ray- he is continually involved in protecting the rights of all sportsmen, of wildlife, and of the outfitting profession. He became a life member of NRA in 1966 and was one of the founders of the New Mexico Outfitters Association in 1968. He has been active in the Colorado Outfitters Association serving as President, in 2010 and 2011, and was voted a life member of that organization by his peers. He was one of the founding members of Sportsmen For Wildlife, Colorado, and Vice President in 2011. Dick Ray has fought for Sportsmen's rights in three lawsuits in Federal Court as a plaintiff, prevailing in each case. The battles will continue and must be fought.
