PACK TRIPS AND TRAIL RIDES

If your plans call for
a trail ride or a pack trip into the high country (9,000 to 12,000 feet) a down parka and
raincoat are in order. On such a ride you could expect to see ptarmigan (the Arctic grouse
that changes color with the seasons), snowshoe rabbits, elk, and if very, very lucky, a
grizzly track. It is thought that perhaps the last grizzly bear in Colorado will be found
in the San Juan Mountains above Pagosa Springs.
There is never a night through the summer that a
jacket doesn't feel good, and rarely does a summer day see 85 degrees in the high country.
If you aren't interested in fishing, bring along your camera for you will be in
photographer's paradise. Many people take pack trips year after year for the scenery
alone. These are outings that all members of a family can enjoy.
The scenic highlights of our pack trips along the
Continental Divide of America are the magnificent views of hundreds of square miles of
mountain terrain stretching in all directions. You will see waterfalls plunging hundreds
of feet into vast valleys below. Most photogenic of all are the natural lakes at or above
timberline - where rivers begin. You will breathe air that has never been breathed before,
and see where man has not yet altered the ecology, or "developed". Our pack
trips will take you into the Weminuche Wilderness or the South San Juan Wilderness in the
Rio Grande and San Juan National Forests.
On these pack trips we take only one party at a
time. We custom design a trip to suit your group (3 to 8 people, 2 to 8 days). This is
your experience, and truly one that everyone is entitled to. We furnished all horses, camp
equipment, food, guide and cook. Just bring your sleeping bag, personal gear, camera and
fishing equipment. We can furnish sleeping bags if need be.

$225.00 per person per day
Breathtaking views, especially for the photographer, along the Continental Divide in the
Rio Grande and San Juan National Forests.
TRAIL RIDES
(May through August)
$85.00 per person, half day or $125.00 per
person, full day
